Stonewall Social Mixer

One of my favourite things to do is to teach people how to cook. Not often do I get to teach and talk about the other side of my job, food styling. Last week I had the unique opportunity to host a #StonewallSocialMixer with StonewallKitchen where I got to teach 8 social media influencers about the art of making food picture perfect.

A big part of food styling is knowing the product you are working with before you step on set, so there are no surprises. Testing the 4 Stonewall Kitchen baking mixes for this Stonewall Social Mixer event the week prior made my job a whole lot easier.

Gluten-Free Pancake & Waffle Mix

Blueberry Scone Mix Gluten-Free Cinnamon Sugar Donut Mix

After testing the mixes straight from the box I was to create 4, out- of- the- box (pun intended) recipes the guests themselves could bake and food style with professional photographer Josh Teen-Yuk. Think waffles, and then think Mmmm… Pulled Pork Open-Faced Waffle Breakfast Sammies. To do this we all gathered at the newly renovated, immaculate, collaborative, community foodie space, Kitchen24 for an afternoon of cooking, eating, and making pretty pictures.

The baking mixes are seamless to work with. Pancakes and waffles are exactly what you want, super fluffy with a hint of vanilla. I must admit I was a bit skeptical of the gluten-free mix, but I should not have been. They are moist and tender and you can literally be eating freshly baked warm donuts in 20 minutes. Let’s just say my kids will not be letting me make scones from scratch anymore. These blueberry scones were probably the best we ever had. On event day we also got to play with an assortment of Stonewall Kitchens gourmet jams, jellies, and sauces.Let’s just say we got spoiled while we played with food all day in Kitchen24. Big thanks to everyone who attended the event. We had so much fun! Check out this short bio about Stonewall Kitchen! “Stonewall Kitchen is a specialty food producer based in York, Maine. They got their start in 1991, selling handmade jams and jellies at local farmers’ markets, fairs and festivals. A passion for innovative recipes and flavors led them to expand to sauces, condiments, mustards, baking mixes, and more—all made with the same high-quality ingredients and detail. They are the winner of 28 prestigious awards from the Specialty Food Association, including three Outstanding Product Line awards.”
